Tactical employment, environmental suitability, logistics, and real-world deployment record
7.62×39 mm provides barrier penetration and close/mid-range stopping power in urban and heavy-cover settings, while 5.56×45 mm offers a flatter trajectory, lighter ammunition, and improved long-range precision. The 7.62×39 mm intermediate cartridge is assessed as notably more efficient out of shorter (9-inch to 11-inch) barrels, providing downrange energy and reliable bullet expansion without the velocity penalty experienced by 5.56×45 mm in short-barreled-rifle (SBR) configurations.

All three rifles accept under-barrel grenade launchers; the HK416's comparatively heavier barrel is apparently found with potential handling issues once an under-barrel grenade launcher is attached.

The larger 7.62×39 mm ammunition facilitates accommodating a larger volume of small-diameter shot than 5.45 mm or 5.56 mm cases, intended to raise hit probability against small, evasive aerial targets, while using standard-dimension casings that require no rifle modification. Logistics, Maintenance and Training
Both the CZ Bren 2 (7.62×39 mm) and HK416 feature tool-less field stripping, a short-stroke gas piston, and an easily accessible gas regulator.
